Unconventional Ways to Bring Your Family Closer
Traditions
What are family traditions? A family tradition is an activity or pattern of behavior that reflects a family's values interest or beliefs. It represents your family unit and is like your own family culture. Having something that your family does as a unit can create a sense of comfort and security.
Our kids are small 9,4, and 2. As they grow our traditions and family time will change. For now it's best if we keep things short and simple. Below is a list of some of our favorite ways to connect.
Gather Before You Go
Before our family departs from each other in the morning we call for a "hands in the middle." It doesn't matter where you are in your morning routine or if we or all annoyed with each other. We huddle up with a hand in the middle, and we say "Goooo Herreras" Even the dog puts in a paw. We all give each other a kiss good bye. I love it because it tells our kids no matter what, we are a unit and a team.- Have a special song for birthdays-Birthday Song by the Beatles is ours
- Get physical-bike rides, yoga, hiking spend time outdoors
- Host a family cook off
- Do chores together
- Create a family bucket list
- Carve out a spot in the home the family can hang out without screen focus
- Let your kids teach you something
- Find a series on tv that the whole family can enjoy
